June 2010
In spite of great success at the Melbourne international 3 Day Event 11th - 14th June 2010, the weekend was a particularly sad one for Sonja and her parents as Sonja's great supporter and friend Olga Reveler passed away on Saturday afternoon at about the same time as Sonja and Ben ( Parkiarrup Illicit Liaison) completed their dressage test.
Ringwould Jaguar again proved just what a star he really is by winning CCI*** He produced a great dressage test and finished on his dressage score showing how he is now a true professional. Parkiarrup Illicit Liaison also preformed exceedingly well lying in 6th place after a quick clear cross country round but Sonja had an unusual forgetful moment in the Show Jumping, losing her way briefly between jump 5 and 6 resulting in a circle and an extra 10 time penalties. Without this error of Sonja's, that combinationwould have finished in 5th place
Ringwould Jaguar ( Jag) and Parkiarrup Illicit Liaison ( Ben) both performed well at the HSCB CICW in Sydney on May 8th & 9th with Jag just ahead of Ben in 4th Place while Ben came 5th.
Parkiarrup Spartacus performed well in the one Star cass finishing just 10.5 points behind the winner.
Parkiarrup William did not compete as he has moved to his new home in Victoria.
On May 1st Sonja will head east again on the 4000 km trip to Sydney for the CICW where Ringwould Jaguar and Parkiarrup Illicit Liaison will compete in the three star while Parkiarrup William is planning on the two star and Parkiarrup Spartacus the one star. The trip should take four days with fairly short stops overnight to give the horses a little bit of time to stretch their legs. That will give the horses one day of rest befor the hard work of preparing for the event over the weekend.
There have been two events in Western Australia this year. the first was Capel ** which was a great warm up run at the beginning of the season.
Ringwould Jaguar demonstrated that he still feels young at heart, winning comfortably with Parkiarrup Illicit Liaison in second place.
The other event was the CIC at Brookleigh, where Jaguar again demonstrated his skills by winning the three star comfortably while Parkiarrup Illicit Liaison managed 4th place.
